I have been really doing good with my water consumption, and it really does make a difference in my overall caloric intake. Drinking lots of water will definitely make you feel full. I have successfully been able to drink a 1/2 gallon every day this week. I fill my large 1/2 gallon jug and then constantly pour it into a 10 ounce cup. Six and a half cups and I’m done. I always make sure I drink a cup right before I eat. It’s funny, when I try to drink the water straight from that big jug I never finish it. It just seems so overwhelming that I figure I’ll never get through it and I slow down my consumption. Before I know the day is coming to an end and I don’t want to consume a ton of water right before I go to bed because I’ll be up all night. But now I chunk it.
Chunking is a cognitive psychology term that refers to a strategy for making more efficient use of short-term memory by recoding information. And in terms of goals, this means breaking down the task into smaller manageable tasks. So I guess, as a loose interpretation, you could say that I broke down my task of drinking 64 ounces of water into small chunks.
